Social-Environmental Responsibility

Santo Antônio Energia is investing BRL 2 billion in environmental projects in the Porto Velho Port area in the northern Brazilian state of Roraima. This amount, higher than required by law, is being invested in 28 social and environmental programs that aim to contribute to local sustainable development.

To protect the environment and boost economic development and the public’s quality of life, these projects are distributed as follows: socioeconomic (focus on the community); physical (soil, climate, groundwater and sediments); biotic (plant and animal life, water quality, clearing vegetation and wildlife rescue); and management (inside the construction site).

In addition to the processes and practices observed during the construction and operation of the hydroelectric plant, Santo Antônio Energia closely follows the sustainability standards set by the Equator Principles in all of these projects.
