Unity and Investment
The construction of a project the size of the Santo Antônio HEP has been made possible through the joint effort of different groups and companies. Santo Antônio Energia was still organized in the form of a consortium when the federal government´s tender was made. It consists of seven companies, two of which are from the construction area, two from the energy sector and the investment fund FIP (Fundo de Investimentos e Participações Amazônia Energia), formed by the Santander and Banif banks and the Investment Fund of the FGTS. Following the auction, they created Santo Antônio Energia as a special purpose vehicle responsible for developing the Santo Antônio HEP and turned themselves into the company´s partners.
Eletrobras Furnas is a Brazilian electricity sector company which develops studies, plans and runs the installation and exploitation of power generation and transmission. Eletrobras Furnas is indirectly owned by the Federal Government, linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and is controlled by Eletrobras. It has projects in nine Brazilian states and the Federal District and operates a complex of 11 hydroelectric and two thermal electric plants with a total potential capacity of 9,910 MW, equivalent to around 10% of Brazil´s generation. More than 40% of all the energy consumed in Brazil passes through the Eletrobras Furnas System.

The FI-FGTS is an investment fund created with resources from the assets of the FGTS. The Fund´s aims are to invest in water treatment and infrastructure projects in the highway, ports, waterways, railways and energy sectors.

CEMIG Geração e Transmissão S/A is a mixed company controlled by the state government of Minas Gerais. It consists of more than 40 companies and seven consortia and operates in the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy. It also has investments in the distribution of natural gas and data transmission lines. Cemig is one of the largest business groups in the Brazilian power sector and is responsible for approximately 12% of electrical energy produced in Brazil. It also operates in Chile.
